برعاية كريمة من صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سعود بن نايف بن عبد العزيز آل سعود أمير المنطقة الشرقية يسر الهيئة السعودية للمهندسين دعوة الباحثين والمختصين و المهتمين إلى تقديم ملخصات الأوراق البحثية و التجارب العملية ذات العلاقة بالمحاور الخاصة بالمؤتمرالسادس للسلامة والوقاية من الحريق، الذي تنظمه الهيئة السعودية للمهندسين في مدينة الدمام بالمملكة العربية السعودية أيام الأربعاء و الخميس الموافق10 - 9 نوفمبر 2016م والموافق 8-9 صفر 1438 للهجرة .

ويشارك بالمؤتمر الذي يأتي تحت شعار "الالتزام بمعايير السلامة واجب وطني" العديد من المهندسين والخبراء والمتخصصين في السلامة و الوقاية من الحريق من داخل و خارج المملكة العربية السعودية.

محاور المؤتمر:

  • أهمية تطبيق معايير السلامة في النطاقات الحضرية ( التعليم , الصحة وغيرها).
  • تجارب تطبيق معايير السلامة و الوقاية من الحريق محلياً و دولياً و الدروس المستفادة.
  • إدارة الكوارث و التحقيق فيها و معرفة أسبابها و الدروس المستفادة منها .
  • أنظمة االحماية من الحرائق ( تصميم , تركيب , إختبار , صيانة , تفتيش ) .
  • دور التدريب الفني والتعليم الأكاديمي في مجال السلامة والوقاية من الحريق.
  • متطلبات السلامة و الوقاية من الحريق في المشاريع تحت الإنشاء.

مواعيد تسليم أوراق العمل:

  • موعد تسليم الأوراق العلمية قبل 1 سبتمبر 2016.
  • إعلان قبول الأوراق العلمية 15 سبتمبر 2016.
  • موعد تسليم أوراق العمل و العروض النهائية قبل 15 أكتوبر 2016.
  • الأوراق العلمية المعروضة سوف يتم نشرها على موقع الهيئة السعودية للمهندسين.

Saudi Council of Engineers invites you to submit technical papers and presentations to the 6th Safety & Fire Protection Conference under the theme "Compliance to Standards is a National Demand"

Organized under the patronage of his Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (Governor of Eastern Province), Saudi Council of Engineers is pleased to invite researchers, specialists and those interested to submit technical papers and practical experiences presentations related to the topics of the 6th Safety & Fire Protection Conference. The conference is organized by Saudi Council of Engineers in Dammam City, Saudi Arabia during 9-10 of November 2016.

Many professionals specializing in safety and fire protection engineering as well as fire and emergency response will be participating in this conference.

Conference main topics are:

  • The importance of applying safety standards in the urban areas (education, health, etc).
  • Experience and case studies of the application of safety and fire protection standards locally and internationally, and lessons learned.
  • Disasters Management, investigation, the real causes and lessons learned. Fire protection systems (design, installation, testing, maintenance, inspection).
  • Technical training and academic education's role in the field of safety and fire protection.
  • Safety and fire protection requirements for projects under construction.

Submission of technical papers and presentations deadlines:

  • Technical paper abstract submission before September 1, 2016.
  • Notification of abstract acceptance on September 15, 2016.
  • Paper submission (Full Paper) and presentations before October 15, 2016.
  • All presented papers will be published in Saudi Council of Engineers Website.

Workshop 1: UNDERSTANDING THE FIRE ALARM AND SIGNALING CODE (NFPA 72-2013/2016)

NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code©, provides direction on the design, installation, testing and inspection, and documentation of fire alarm and emergency communication systems of various types. This document can be difficult to understand. This 3-day seminar is designed to provide basic and intermediate instruction on the contents of NFPA 72. Upon completion, attendees will understand:

  • Fire Alarm System Basics
  • Understand NICET certification.
  • NFPA 72 basic structure and layout.
  • NFPA 72 documentation requirements.
  • NFPA 72 detection and notification principles.
  • NFPA 72 Emergency Communication Systems basics.
  • NFPA 72 Inspection, Testing and Maintenance requirements.
  • Principles of NFPA 70 Article 760.

Attendees must attend the entire seminar to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

INSTRUCTOR: LARRY D. RIETZ, SET
JENSEN HUGHES, INC.

Larry Rietz is a NICET Level IV certified Fire Alarm designer with over 21 years of life safety industry experience. After working for almost 14 years with a large Fire Alarm manufacturer and service provider, he is now Director of the Denver Office for Jensen Hughes Inc., the world’s largest and most experienced specialty engineering consulting firm. Larry currently serves on the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) Board of Directors, a principal on the NFPA 1616 Technical Committee, and an Alternate on the NFPA 72 Chapter 24 (ECS) Technical Committee.

Workshop 2: DESIGN OF FIRE PUMPS AND FIRE SERVICE MAINS (NFPA 20 AND 24/2016)

NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection© and NFPA 24, Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their Appurtenances© serve as the basic standards for understanding the site water supply infrastructure supporting fixed water based fire protection systems and fire service operations. This 3-day seminar is designed to provide basic and intermediate instruction on the contents of NFPA 20 and NFPA 24. Upon completion, attendees will understand:

  • Fire pump specifications and requirements.
  • Types of fire pumps.
  • Fire pump acceptance testing, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Possible causes of pump troubles.
  • Waters supplies.
  • Hydrants, hose houses and equipment.
  • Hydraulic calculations.
  • Valve supervision issues.
  • Water main inspection testing, and maintenance.

Attendees must attend the entire seminar to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

INSTRUCTOR: ADAM OLOMON, PE
JENSEN HUGHES, INC.

Adam Olomon is a registered Fire Protection Engineer with over 13 years of experience in the design and testing of automatic sprinkler systems, deluge systems, fire pumps, water storage tanks and private undergrounds. Adam is located in the UAE and has been involved in the Fire & Life Safety System design review and construction supervision of multiple airport and petrochemical projects in the GCC. Adam currently serves as a project manager at the Abu Dhabi Airport Midfield Terminal Project for JENSEN HUGHES, in the United Arab Emirates. He has worked on fire protection engineering projects in the United States, Mexico, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kenya, Serbia, Ukraine, Belarus Azerbaijan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Workshop 3: INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES EMERGENCY RESPONSE ENHANCEMENT

Emergency response for industrial facilities is an important consideration due to the nature of the hazards contained in these facilities. Several topics will be covered centered around techniques for enhancing emergency response readiness and capabilities. This 3-day seminar is designed to provide basic and intermediate instruction on issues relevant to fire brigade personnel, fire marshals, and incident commanders. Upon completion, attendees will understand:

  • Fire hazard identification.
  • Pre-incident planning.
  • Using NFPA 600 to develop fire drill requirements.
  • Using Digital Combustion, a commercial software used to provide visual cues to fire drill scenarios, as a tool to support drills.
  • Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) as a Structural Fire Drill Tool.
  • Using NFPA 1410 as a basis to develop site specific performance measures.
  • Staffing and standard operating procedures.
  • Increasing effectiveness of response.
  • Transformer and steam turbine failures and fires.
  • Contingency planning for beyond design basis events.

Attendees must attend the entire seminar to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

INSTRUCTOR: WILLIAM (BILL) BUIRCH
JENSEN HUGHES, INC.

William Buirch, has over 31 years’ experience in industrial fire response. Prior to joining JENSEN HUGHES he was Chief of the PSEG Nuclear Fire Department. Mr. Buirch is a charter member of the New Jersey State Industrial Fire Chiefs Mutual Aid Consortium. This group collaborated on response planning and strategies for heavy industrial facilities throughout the state. While at JENSEN HUGHES, Mr. Buirch has developed pre-fire plans, provided responder training, conducted feasibility studies, developed company specific fire brigade training programs, and assisted in equipment specifications and other activities related to emergency response planning. Mr. Buirch has performed these actions with electric utilities, petro/chemical facilities, and manufacturing facilities as well as conducted training for municipal agencies responding to industrial facilities.
